Sorting through loss is never easy. Too overwhelming to face all at once, I cope with small sessions of determining the fate of personal possessions left behind by departed loved ones. There are troublesome choices regarding which items must be released (and then how they will be released). Ashes to Ashes is directly influenced by this difficult task as I endeavor to respectfully dispose of crumbling old music through a fire ceremony on the beach. The video loop is meant to convey a perpetual state of transformation that speaks beyond my experience of loss.
